$10 MILLION GRANT
The University at Buffalo received the only New York State designation--worth $10 million over 10 years--for its Center for Advanced Technology in Big Data and Health Sciences.

WHITE COAT WELCOME
This year’s white coat ceremony--a symbolic rite of passage for medical students--was an institutional milestone, as UB welcomed its largest-ever medical school class.

BIOMEDICAL GRANT

A $2.5 million grant will fund training of analysts to interpret the data of personalized medicine, deadly epidemics, drug side effects and other areas of biomedical informatics.



MAGNETIC BRAIN STIMULATION

Scientists used magnetism to activate tiny groups of cells in the brain, inducing running, rotating and losing control of the extremities—an achievement that could advance neurological disease treatments.



FIGHT FRAILTY
A preclinical study revealed brief periods of intense physical activity can be safely administered at advanced age, and is the kind of activity with the potential to reverse frailty.

SAJDAK LANDS COVETED SPOT AT CONFERENCE
UB's Dori Sajdak is one of six women chosen to participate in the Women in IT Networking at SC (WINS) program at the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis.
