WE'RE OTTER HERE! UB EXPERTS SURMISE NEW MIGRATION ROUTE
An ancient otter tooth found in Mexico by UB researcher Jack Tseng suggests mammals migrated across America via a new east-west passage along the northern edge of the Trans-Mexican Volcanic Belt.

Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai, former U.S. National Security Advisor Susan Rice, Grey’s Anatomy actor and activist Jesse Williams and award-winning actor and science communicator Alan Alda are among the speakers who will headline UB’s 2017-18 season. HELPING NATIVE AMERICANS
The School of Nursing has received more than $2.4 million in funding from the Health Resources and Services Administration to increase access to mental health care and substance abuse treatment among American Indian communities in Western New York.

CAN FUNCTION BE RESTORED?
While most research on Alzheimer’s disease has focused on early diagnosis and treatment, UB scientists are studying genetic and epigenetic factors with the ultimate goal of restoring function to patients in the later stages of the disease.
